A reported attempt to hijack a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv is being examined alongside allegations from sources provided to Tamrah News that the incident was part of a planned false-flag operation intended to create a pretext for further U.S. military action against Iran.
The allegations come from sources described to Tamrah News as members of the intelligence community in the United Arab Emirates. They claim the operation was discussed during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s secret visit to Abu Dhabi on September 27, where he met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit itself has been independently reported. Reuters reported that Netanyahu travelled to Abu Dhabi and met Sheikh Mohamed on September 27, while the Associated Press reported that the meeting took place during a secret weekend visit. The UAE’s state news agency subsequently confirmed the meeting.
According to the information provided to Tamrah News, the alleged discussions went beyond bilateral UAE-Israel relations and involved regional security coordination concerning Iran. The sources claim representatives from Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain also participated in discussions associated with the meeting.
A separate report by Anadolu Agency, citing an unnamed Emirati source and Israeli Channel 14, said an expanded session involving representatives from 10 countries included the United States, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya and Oman, alongside Israel and the UAE. The report said the discussions included security and intelligence cooperation, Iran and the Houthis, and the possibility of a regional defence framework. The countries named in that report did not immediately comment.
The sources who spoke to Tamrah News allege that the objective of the broader plan was to create an incident that could ultimately be attributed to Iran, increasing pressure on Washington to enter a wider confrontation with Tehran. They further allege that the intended trajectory could include expanded U.S. military operations and potentially an invasion of Iran.
Those allegations have not been independently established by Tamrah News.
What happened aboard the flydubai flight
Flydubai flight FZ1073 was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30 when the aircraft experienced a serious in-flight incident and diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Flydubai initially said an altercation had occurred in the flight deck and that the crew secured the aircraft before it was diverted safely. Saudi authorities subsequently reported that the captain and first officer were injured and taken to hospital. The airline later suspended flights between the UAE and Israel while authorities investigated the incident.
Reuters reported that the aircraft descended nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds before the emergency situation was brought under control. The captain and other people aboard the aircraft subsequently described an alleged attack by the co-pilot, with passengers and crew intervening.
The UAE attorney-general has ordered an investigation into the incident, including whether it involved terrorist activity, advance planning or direction, according to reporting on the investigation.
False-flag allegation emerges
The allegation received wider public attention after Iranian state-linked media reported claims that the aircraft incident had been planned as a false-flag operation.
Anadolu Agency reported on October 2 that Press TV, citing an unnamed regional source, alleged that Netanyahu had planned a false-flag aircraft hijacking operation intended to draw the United States into another war with Iran. The report said the alleged operation had been discussed during Netanyahu’s secret UAE visit. It did not provide independently verifiable evidence establishing the allegation.
Other reporting has similarly documented the emergence of false-flag claims following the incident. The Media Line reported that Iranian outlets subsequently connected the flight to allegations of a covert Israeli operation, while noting that no independently verifiable evidence had emerged establishing Israeli responsibility.
Tamrah News’ sources make a similar allegation but provide a different basis for the claim, describing themselves as members of the UAE intelligence community familiar with the alleged discussions.
The Netanyahu-Abu Dhabi meeting
The existence of Netanyahu’s September 27 visit is not itself disputed. Reuters reported that he met Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, while AP reported that the meeting lasted about an hour and was initially kept secret.
Israeli and regional reporting has provided differing accounts of the meeting’s purpose. AP reported that the immediate issue discussed was reportedly a dispute surrounding claims that Sheikh Mohamed had warned Netanyahu before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack.
Other reporting has described broader regional-security discussions. Anadolu, citing an unnamed Emirati source and Channel 14, reported that representatives from several Arab states and the United States joined an expanded session and that Iran, Yemen, intelligence cooperation and a possible regional security framework were among the issues discussed.
The reported participation of Saudi, Omani and Bahraini representatives therefore remains based on attributed reporting and sources rather than an officially released participant list.
Investigation remains ongoing
The available evidence currently establishes that a serious incident occurred aboard FZ1073, that the aircraft made an emergency diversion to Saudi Arabia and that multiple authorities are investigating what happened.
It does not establish that the incident was a false-flag operation or that Israel, the UAE or any other government ordered or organized it.
The intelligence allegations supplied to Tamrah News therefore remain unverified claims. Their significance depends on whether investigators or intelligence authorities subsequently produce evidence concerning planning, coordination, motive or responsibility.
The central question now is whether the incident was an isolated attack by an individual, a coordinated operation or something else. Authorities investigating the flight have yet to publicly establish the full circumstances or provide evidence connecting the incident to the alleged regional planning described by the sources.
Tamrah News will continue to distinguish between independently established facts, official findings and intelligence claims as further information becomes available.
